Holiday Party for Children and Families — December
What are you and your employees doing for the year-end holidays this year?

For 250 children from low-income families, our annual holiday party will be the high point of the season. We begin the festivities with an early dinner, then move on to a dance party and games, face painting, balloon animals, and a visit from Santa Claus, who gives each child a gift.

As a Corporate Sponsor, you can make the magic happen for the kids and your employees. Benefits include:

    • A corporate volunteer project for your employees who could help put smiles on children’s faces by gathering and wrapping gifts for the children
    • A team-building experience, planning and running the games and activities
    • A wonderful media event for your company emphasizing your community involvement
    • The happiness that comes from being part of a caring community

Candy Cane Toy Drive — December
Our children look forward to this event all year. The children fill out paper candy canes with their name, age, and gift wishes — wishes that come true, thanks to generous supporters. It’s another great way to get your company, clients, and vendors involved and bring the holiday spirit to less fortunate children. Please email us at fundraising@childcenterny.org for more information.

Far Rockaway RBI Volunteer Day—June, O’Donohue Park, Far Rockaway

Far Rockaway RBI is a baseball league for youth ages 6-14, formed by The Child Center of NY in partnership with other community partners, including Major League Baseball (MLB). The children engage in practices and games, clinics, baseball-related youth development activities, and opportunities to engage with MLB players and other personnel from the New York Mets while learning the values of teamwork, self-discipline, and sportsmanship through baseball.

On Far Rockaway RBI Volunteer Day, volunteers will have the opportunity to coach a team with a manager. Those with no baseball experience can help set up the field, oversee water and field supplies, remind the players of the lineup, and possibly provide snacks or lunch. No matter what your task, you will be serving as a positive role model for the players and have a unique chance to see the magic of Far Rockaway RBI in action!

Annual Backpack Drive—August
Each year we partner with companies and individuals to run a backpack drive to provide thousands of Child Center of NY youth with a backpack filled with the supplies they need to start the school year on the right foot.

To support the backpack drive, we invite everyone to give a gift ($35 covers one backpack) and make a meaningful difference in a child’s school year. Gifts are 100% tax deductible and will go exclusively toward purchasing backpacks for our children. Stay tuned for details on our 2023 backpack drive!
