The Child Center of NY Invites You to Give

a family helped by The Child Center of NY

Dear Friends:

The Child Center of NY strengthens children and families in New York City’s toughest, most under-served communities. We need your support this holiday season to provide the skills, opportunities, and emotional support they need to build healthy, successful lives.

Four-year-old Amy is one of 35,000 children who receive services through The Child Center. Amy attends our Woodside Head Start for low-income preschoolers, and is pictured here with Child Center supporter Amy Rappaport.

Sixty-six years ago, we recognized the debilitating impact of chronic poverty on children’s mental health, and we developed services to address this overlooked need. Today, we have become a powerful community presence throughout the city, transforming the lives of more than 35,000 children and families each year through 70 locations and thousands of home visits.

Through comprehensive early childhood, afterschool programming, behavioral health, preventive, and development programs and services, The Child Center is at the forefront of integrating social, emotional, and cognitive approaches that empower families and transform communities.

“At The Child Center, we challenge ourselves to provide the most comprehensive services where they are needed most.” —Traci Donnelly, CEO

Our exponential growth over the last five years puts The Child Center in the position to innovate through new kinds of partnerships and 100% privately funded initiatives.

That’s where you come in. Your holiday gift supports our ability to creatively address the challenges that our families and children face each day.

  • In East New York, Brooklyn, one of the city’s toughest neighborhoods, we are partnering with the NYPD to provide afterschool programming to 300 youth at a new, first-of-its-kind community center.
  • Our partnership with Northwell Health, which embeds physicians in our clinics and public housing community centers, is ensuring easy access to high-quality preventive and primary care in medically under-served neighborhoods.

Your thoughtful gift will empower our youth, adults, and families to see new possibilities for themselves.

The holidays can be tough.More than three-quarters of all of our families live below the poverty line. In addition to participating in our numerous programs, many rely on The Child Center for a holiday gift or a meal.

Help us bring joy to children and families this holiday season.

I hope you will consider making a gift through our website at childcenterny.org/donate.

Thank you for all you have given and will give for those who deserve hope and growth!

Most sincerely,

Our holistic approach works!

Four-year-old Maria was behind in reading and school-preparedness when she joined our Head Start program. Her mother, Mercedes, was struggling to make ends meet. Sometimes things were tense at home. The Child Center not only helped Maria enter kindergarten at grade level ready to learn, but also helped Mercedes build a stronger bond with her children through in-home counseling and play therapy.
