This holiday season, The Child Center is overwhelmed with the generosity and good will of people who created special moments for our children and families.
World Cares Center‘s Project Elf brought Santa and presents to our after-school participants at Beach 41st Cornerstone Community Center. World Cares Center, an organization focused on empowering communities through disaster response training and coordination, came to The Child Center bearing gifts for over 100 children. The night before the gift-giving, they transformed the gym with decorations, pictures of presents, snowflakes and streamers. On December 8, children and parents came through the doors and were greeted by Santa Claus, fun art activities, and gifts.
The children were thrilled with gifts like remote control cars, dolls, action figures, Etch-a-Sketch gifts, and puzzles. NY1 covered the event, filming children who showed off their gifts from Santa. Thank you to World Cares Center for making the holiday special and for creating a magical day for our families.
At The Child Center’s annual holiday party, 300 families enjoyed another night of gifts and fun. The festivities began with an early dinner, then moved on to a dance party and games, face painting, balloon sculpting, and a visit from Santa Claus who had a gift for each child. We are grateful to Display Technologies, Saatchi & Saatchi Wellness and Ridgewood Savings Bank for sponsoring this magical event again this year.
We also want to thank the many companies and employees who generously contributed to our Candy Cane Project to make children’s holiday wishes come true. Raich Ende Malter & Co. LLP employees donated over $2,000 to purchase holiday presents for 126 children in the Early Head Start and Head Start programs. We are also grateful for the support of City National Rochdale; Roslyn Savings Bank; Arnold & Porter; Welsh, Carson, Anderson & Stowe; Gabrielli Truck Sales; New York Community Bank; Farrell Fritz, P.C.; Astoria Bank; and Con Edison. Thank you for helping to make children’s wishes come true this holiday season.
