2021 Child Center Virtual Gala

On Thursday, May 20, 2021, at 7:00 p.m., The Child Center of NY held its first-ever Virtual Gala. Although it looked different from previous galas, we were grateful for the opportunity to shine a light on the incredible difference our staff has made in the lives of 40,000 children, families, and their communities, in the toughest circumstances. Our clients faced unimagined hardships this year, and the work of our staff has inspired hope and offered real, tangible support and relief where it is needed most.

Why We Serve: The Team at Preparatory Academy for Writers

When the COVID-19 pandemic hit, New York State deemed The Child Center’s work essential. Far from closing programs and decreasing services, The Child Center scaled up and broadened the scope of what we do in highly creative and responsive ways that will endure. It was our great honor to dedicate the 2021 Gala to these essential workers: the profoundly skilled and passionate staff of The Child Center of NY, who showed up every day and made it all happen for the clients they serve.

It was a wonderful night of celebration and support! If you weren’t able to tune in live, you can watch the recording. We hope you enjoy the performances by both Broadway legends and the budding talent of Child Center students; reflections on extraordinary moments of 2020; an inside look at our staff’s incredible work; and the sense of inspiration and joy that comes from joining together for an important cause.
