Staff Spotlight: Elliot Weinstein

Elliot Weinstein

Elliot Weinstein, our Chief Human Resources Officer, came to The Child Center of NY in October 2017 with more than 25 years of diverse HR and management experience in both the for-profit and nonprofit worlds.

What brought you to The Child Center of NY?

I came to The Child Center of NY in order to put my money where my mouth is (literally) and contribute to the community where I have spent almost all of my last 25 years.  I’ve been an active volunteer in Forest Hills for many years, and still coach baseball in the spring and summer for the Forest Hills Youth Activities Association.

How does it stand out from other places you’ve worked?

The Child Center, more than any of my previous employers, maintains a focus on the communities and clients we serve. The degree to which all parts of the agency, including Administration, focus on the children and families is truly remarkable.

What’s the best part of your job?

I love that I get to work with every part of the agency and staff at every level.  In the course of a single day I will often speak with part-time staff who are brand new to the workforce, mid-level managers, and senior executives.

Any goals/challenges you see on the immediate horizon?

Recruitment in this economy is very difficult, and we need to continue hiring and retaining great staff in order to meet the needs of our communities and maintain our growth. I am hoping to expand our efforts to develop and train staff in a way that will both serve the communities that they represent, as well as engage them in ways that will extend their careers with us.
