Photo of the Month: Father’s Day at Corona Head Start

Jazlyn and her dad at the Father's Day celebration at Corona Head Start in Corona, QueensCan you feel the love in this picture? We sure can!

Jazlyn, a 3-year-old student at Corona Head Start, couldn’t wait to bring her dad to school with her for Father’s Day—and her dad couldn’t wait to be a part of the special day.

Family engagement is a key part of all our early childhood education programs. At The Child Center, we know that parents and other primary caregivers are children’s first and most important teachers. With parenting education programs, group counseling opportunities, and fun events like this one, our Head Start programs strengthen families’ involvement in their children’s education and foster connections among families that often serve as an important support throughout the school years.

Jazlyn is thriving at Head Start. She has developed strong relationships with her teachers, Ms. Silvana Pereira and Ms. Mukta Chakraborty. She has made incredible progress in literacy, language development, and social-emotional development. Her favorite activities include singing and dancing. She is very friendly with everyone and loves to tell her classmates and teachers about Daddy—especially the good food he cooks! Both of Jazlyn’s parents actively support Jazlyn with her activities and daily routines. As a result, Jazlyn is confident, secure, and more than ready to start kindergarten when the time comes!
